Space for love: the film
Space for Love: A Literary Dinner Party is an immersive, sensory experience that brings the themes of the Space for Love poetry book to life through five poetic courses curated by Chef Anya, Founder of Kit an’ Kin and CHOPPED Champion (S61 EP10), each paired with wine tastings and beverages, interwoven with live poetry readings by the host and author, Starasia Wright. The evening culminated in a pop-up market featuring limited-edition art prints by illustrator Quiana Lewis and healing aura sprays, crafted in collaboration with local herbalist Nicole Heals, owner of Subtle Essences. Guests took home a signed copy of the illustrated poetry book and an herbal blend designed to complement the esoteric poems. The event was hosted for an intimate gathering of 10 guests at Mangove FC in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York.

space for love | First Edition
Printed in-house and hand-bound in Brooklyn, NY, the first edition poetry book, Space for Love, was created as part of The Free Black Women’s Library Black Zine Project 2025, sponsored by the Brooklyn Arts Council. The goal of this project was to make zines that engage in conversation or respond to books considered canonical by The Free Women's Library.
I hand-made 27 copies with a 65-lb cardstock cover, 20-lb text-weight paper, hand-torn decal edges, and a hand-sewn chain-stitch binding using my grandmother’s thread in four weeks to learn production workflows and for the launch party, CANON: a Black Literary Zine Symposium at The Free Black Women’s Library in Bed-Stuy.
Redesigned the poetry book around 11 full-color original illustrations
In preparation for the Black Zine Fair 2025, I coordinated with illustrator Quiana Lewis to produce 11 custom, full-color illustrations inspired by the poems and reformatted the second edition for professional printing, including a spine, within a 4-week timeframe. Printed 100 copies in the United States.
See you in orbit.
