Victim or Victor? You Choose.
A couture twist on a classic children’s story: Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. In "Victim or Victor 2024," I explore the dichotomy between villainy and victory, and what it means to break free from a victimhood mentality and alchemize pain. I reimagined the Big Bad Wolf as the “Big Bad Bitch” in a luxury faux fur dress with drop sleeves, a tailored bodice that contours to the hips, a big collar, and a zipper closure. Styled with Maison Margiela Tabi Boots to complete the behooving look. The “Big Fur Cap” is an upcycled newsboy cap inspired by my grandfather, whose first job was delivering newspapers, and who later became a designer and manufacturer. He’d give me red, leather, Gucci-printed fabric, which I used to make clothes for my teddy bears, before mustering the courage to cut-and-sew for myself. The “Big Red Jacket,” paired with signature Brandon Blackwood pieces, is inspired by Red Riding Hood’s cloak and my mother’s vintage leather cape coat, which she gifted to me. The “Big Red Jacket” has a vintage shawl collar, handpicked antique buttons, raw bell sleeves, a tailored bodice, a finished bottom hem, and a half lining. I Creative Directed the head-to-toe styling and photoshoot to reflect the woodsy theme.
