FAQs
Is Space for Love your first zine?
Yes, this is only the beginning! While Space for Love is my first zine, I’ve always wanted to be a published author. I am an avid reader and fascinated by a book’s lifecycle, which is why I was intentional and attentive during the zinemaking process. Space for Love also sets the stage for my forthcoming book, The Only Begotten.
Who printed Space for Love?
I printed Space for Love in Brooklyn, NY, at Made with Sunshine (MWS) Designs Studio, a multi-functional creative workspace honoring my grandmother’s legacy. I also designed the cover, hand-tore the decal edges, and hand-sewed the chainstitch binding using my grandmother’s thread. Space for Love is a labor of love, and I am grateful for your support.
How long did it take you to make?
I spent 4 weeks writing, curating and composing Space for Love. The zine contains 17 poems written within a year and edited in a few weeks for The Free Black Women’s Library CANON: a Black Literary Zine Symposium event.
